Sashiko & Denim: visible mending & more - with Carol Ziogas

Supply list:
- Different weights of denim fabric.
- Sashiko needles
- Sashiko thread - 4-ply and 6-ply, any colors, Daruma, Yokota, and Hidamari are best. Students should get a feel for both thread weights.
- Palm thimble
- Transfer tool options (student can choose one or more): washout pen or pencil and/or transfer paper with hera and ruler
- Grid paper - centimeter or 1/4", or both.
- Bring items to be mended if they have any (jeans, jackets, totes, etc).
- Fabric scraps can also be used in this class, students can bring or the shop can provide from shop scraps.

| Instructor Bio: | Carol Ziogas is an Oakland, California-based textile and sashiko artist, educator, and the founder of Kimonomomo Shop and Orimono Imports. For over two decades, she has curated traditional Japanese fabrics, threads, and sashiko notions, teaching classes on the history, mindfulness, and geometric grids of Japanese hand-stitching. She has demonstrated her skills at the Tokyo International Quilt Festival. |
